To The Evening Star - In Memory of My Father

Thou fair-haired angel of the evening,

Now, whilst the sun rests on the mountains, light

Thy bright torch of love; thy radiant crown

Put on, and smile upon our evening bed!

Smile on our loves, and, while thou drawest the

Blue curtains of the sky, scatter thy silver dew

On every flower that shuts its sweet eyes

In timely sleep. Let thy west wind sleep on

The lake; speak silence with thy glimmering eyes,

And wash the dusk with silver. Soon, full soon,

Dost thou withdraw; then the wolf rages wide,

And the lion glares through the dun forest:

The fleeces of our flocks are covered with

Thy sacred dew: protect them with thine influence.

TO WANT, TO HAVE, TO DO

"We spend most of our lives conjugating three verbs: to want, to have and to do. But none of these verbs has any ultimate significance until it is transcended by and included in the fundamental verb ~ to be." ~ Evelyn Underhill

Grief

Grief should be the Instructor of the wise.
Sorrow is Knowledge: they who know the most
Must mourn the deepest.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is discord, unity.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is error, truth.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is sadness, joy.
Where there is darkness, light.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console,
To be understood, as to understand,
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Prayer Request

Today is Stephen's birthday. He is 39 years old, and he is the father of three special-needs children. He has been unemployed since September 2008, but thankfully he has found a new job that he will begin in April. Until then, he is in need of money to buy groceries for his family and a bus pass to get to his new job. Your prayers and support would be greatly appreciated.
